As the 2012 model year arrives, no changes will be made to Toyota’s flagship sedan, the Avalon. While it will remain the same as the 2011 Avalon, it will continue to offer the same combination of luxury, efficiency, and value.
With 106.9 cubic feet of passenger space and 14.4-cubic foot trunk, the Toyota Avalon is sized competitively for the “large car” segment. But its cavernous interior by no means its only luxurious feature.
A bevy of comfort and convenience features are available in the Avalon Limited, including heated and cooled front seats, an eight-way front passenger’s seat with lumbar support, driver’s seat cushion extension, rain-sensing windshield wipers and Smart Key. Other available amenities include a JBL Synthesis sound system and satellite navigation system.
Powering the 2012 Avalon is a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 268 horsepower and 248 pound-feet. of torque. This unit is mated to a six-speed automatic that facilitates smooth shifts while helping fuel economy. EPA ratings for the Avalon are 20 miles per gallon in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. Those are impressive features considering this vehicle’s size, and even more impressive is that the Avalon is also certified as an Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV).
Not much has changed for the 2012 model year, but the Avalon continues to be one of the strongest offerings among full-size sedans, even rivaling premium offerings in terms of ride comfort, interior space, and amenities.
